life as a dog…

Went and saw the movie last night. It’s a great movie. A few observations…

1. 3D still has a lot of kinks to work out. Sure, it does have some really cool moments, but it doesn’t seem to handle lights well – since there are two lenses side by side, it gets the two angles. Here’s the problem with lights – if Bono is standing where a light is *just* on the edge of his face, one lens sees it while the other has it blocked. So it looks weird to the eyes – in real life, you’d end up seeing them both. I’m not quite sure how to explain it.

2. I was surprised at the songs that did *not* get played. I understand they have to edit down to fit the movie time frame…but here’s a short list of songs that were missing: I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For, Mysterious Ways, Lemon, Two Hearts Beat As One, New Year’s Day, Desire, When Love Comes to Town, (anything off of Pop), Elevation. I know, some of those may not be songs they have played live in a long time, but still…

3. The band members are really starting to show their age, especially Bono and Adam Clayton. Clayton has been gray for a while, but it seems like it’s intensified. Bono always goes around with glasses on. Now I know why. He took them off a couple times, and wow…he looks a LOT older with them off. Larry Mullin and the Edge look older, but not to the degree that the other two do.

So I’m going through changing utilities and stuff to the new place. Dominion Electric is too funny. We all have to deal with the voice menus…I realize it’s a pain…we all do. But Dominion has gone a bit further. They now have a fake voice asking all these questions…but when you speak the words (or spell them), it starts doing this sound…typing! Last I knew, my name only had 10 letters…not what seemed like 50. Of course, he also occassionally says, “hold on…I’m almost done…”

I just found it amusing.
