so long cingular…

Got my new phone last night from T-Mobile. This thing is nice. Windows based, Wi-Fi enabled, etc. I’m paying the same price as Cingular, but with much more – unlimited internet for one thing. And with Orb, I can stream anything from my home computer on to it – yes, music AND video. Almost makes an iPod unnecessary…almost. I’ve had it for only about 24 hours and I’m MUCH happier with it (and the coverage) than with the old Cingular piece o’ crap.

Emmitt

You may remember a picture of this little guy, Emmitt, from a few months ago. Emmitt used to hang out with Wonton. Sadly, he went to join her again. I, unfortunately, was not able to be here for L on that day. I should have been. But we all know sometimes these things aren’t expected.

I only met “Em” once. He was visiting with Irish (a greyhound). Em was very content. But like Wonton and Mynah, he must have been quite a character. One can only imagine the character of a dog who gets unbelievable special treatment (spending the night keeping the dog company instead of the other way around, and eggs cooked up just for him).

The one story that sticks out in my mind about Em was when he and Wonton were still under the same roof. Apparently they were in the yard playing or hunting or running or whatever Whippets do in their spare time. Along comes a squirrel (yeah, what dog isn’t going to be interested in that!). Instead of just jumping out and running to try and catch the squirrel, they plotted! I never knew whippets plotted…but apparently they do! Instead of chasing (and not catching) the squirrel, one chased it to a tree trunk, and the other came around the other side and….you guessed it…nabbed it.

His health hadn’t been the best in recent months, but he seemed to have picked up a bit. Just shows that sometimes the unexpected happens.

But at least one thing is known…yes, Em was very content.

update…

No flux. Damnit.

Anyway. Tomorrow I’m getting a new cell phone. To hell with Cingular. AT&T was great. When Cingular bought them, it went downhill. It’s horrible now. Dropped calls, calls not connecting. Terrible. So I’m switching to T-Mobile. I know a lot of people think T-Mobile isn’t any good. But all the reviews I’ve seen say they and Verizon are actually the best ones. And now that T-Mobile has their “myfaves” plan…I should be good. For the same price I’m paying now, I’ll have that and unlimited internet. Plus, if I happen to be in a bad area for coverage on T-Mobile, I still have my work cell from Cingular. Hopefully I’ll be able to connect regularly with that one.

state of flux…

Things could be going into a state of flux for me in the next week. Actually, I’m hoping they do. I can’t say much about it right now, because I don’t want to get ahead of myself. Just that if it does, it’s most definitely for the better.
