too funny…

So today L and I went down to DC to take some pictures. We went to the Rolling Thunder event (just walked and got a few shots of the bikes coming into town). After that, we went out to Glen Echo. From there, we drove down North Capitol. We stopped at the old MacMillan Sand Filtration Plant. No sooner did I get my camera out and take one picture and a DC police cruiser pulled up. The officer asked, “what are you doing?” I told him I was taking pictures. And then he goes into this “you really shouldn’t be doing that. The Secret Service are probably watching you.” Huh? Does this guy not realize that the filtration plant is abandoned? And has been for years? On top of that, why would the Secret Service even care? I feel like going back down and taking MORE pictures of the abandoned area. Hell, right there on the fence is a sign about redevelopment of the area. I was amused. My guess is, if I had a point and shoot camera, he wouldn’t have stopped. I’ll get the “picture” up soon…with some from Rolling Thunder and Glen Echo.

last nail in the coffin…

Canon has announced their plans to stop manufacturing film SLR’s. Nikon stopped all but two (the low end FM10 and the high end F6). Yup…it’s only a matter of time before film is gone.

possible trip…

All this travelling lately has got me not wanting to travel so much. Tomorrow I head to NYC for three days. I’m not looking forward to it. But there is a possible trip for work coming up that really has me torn. It starts in San Francisco. Once in San Francisco, it would be a drive to Washington, DC over 13 days. Driving through Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, Colorado, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Maryland…that’s quite a trip. I’m still torn whether I really want to do it or not.

sitting in New Orleans…

Getting ready to head to bed. I did manage to get down to the French Quarter for some shooting. I may get some of those up (then again, I still haven’t gotten to my Vegas and Tempe pictures).

I am finally starting to get my un-named website together.
