done working…

Until next year. :-) I’m beat as all get out right now. I keep debating on whether to go to bed right now, or stay up late so I can stay up late tomorrow night. Last year I spent the evening with Harley. The year before…I don’t remember. Probably the same. The last time I went out for New Years was a few years ago. Several people went skiing. It was actually a lot of fun – it’s the first time I had ever been tubing in the snow. Granted, it was cold cold cold…but fun. It had actually been probably 10 years since I had been skiing (I had been going out with someone who simply refused to even try). But surprisingly, it wasn’t hard to get back into it. Almost like riding a bike…almost. That ski trip was probably the most fun New Year’s I have ever had…certainly top 5. It was also the first time I really had any interest in someone in a long time. But that didn’t work out. It just didn’t feel right…I don’t know how to explain that.

Speaking of “top 5,” I was thinking about what cool things I’ve been able to do through my job. I almost forgot some of the stuff, so I figured I’d write it down so I wouldn’t forget.

Top 5 things I’ve gotten to do through my job:

1. Catapult off the USS Truman.
2. Watch the John Glenn shuttle launch from the closest vantage point – the press area. So close you can literally *feel* the launch.
3. Fly in a hot air baloon.
4. Democratic Conventions (both 2000 and 2004)
5. Running in to Dick Van Dyke at the Sands Convention Center in Las Vegas.

who knew…

So I was looking at my website log. Interesting where people come from. In the last 7 days, I’ve had people visit from Sweden, Japan, Australia, Colombia, Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Cocos Islands, Netherlands, Romania, Kazakhstan, Seychelles, France, Poland, Germany, Belgium, Italy, United Kingdom, Mexico, New Zealand, Thailand, Ireland, Tanzania, Ukraine, Turkey, Greece, China, Taiwan, and of course, the US.

And…the US government and Darpa! Ooooooh! Big Brother!

Obviously, some of these, if not most, are probably bots. But I still thought it was interesting. (And no Canadians…I figured that would be top of the list of foreign domains).

hmmm…bugs…

I’ve noticed some bugs in the photo pages. I’ve put a hell of a lot of time getting those together, and now I find these bugs. I may have to switch software. Not something I’ll be looking forward to. But then again, if I ever get off my butt and figure out what to do with the domain-who-can’t-be-named, I may not need to entirely worry about it. I do know this…the new domain will not have nearly as many pictures on it…only the “best” one’s I’ve taken. Granted, that will knock close to 90% of the pictures off, but that’s normal. I’ve often heard, if you get 1 good picture out of a 36 exposure roll, you’re doing damn good.

This is one of the more humorous news stories I’ve ever read…

drat…

Just picked up Harley from the kennel. He’s all up to date. But the “drat”… they are going out of business. Another victim of out-of-control growth here in Virginia. Turns out, the state has plans for route 50 – expanding it to three lanes, I’m assuming. And so, if they wanted to remain in business, they would have to tear down the current building, and relocate further back. A hotel is going to replace them, according to the guy I talked to. They are closing in January of 2007. At least that gives me another year.
