interesting find…
I was on a job today, and during lunch was bored…so I started going through some stuff on my laptop. I came across a thing I had written a couple years ago. A little note to someone I used to know that I had posted on my site (hidden, though, as it was a bit personal). To be honest, I thought I had deleted it a while back. I never planned on reading it again. But there it was. So I read it. Strange how time flies and things change. I wrote how I felt, and was more honest than I probably should have been. But reading it now… to be honest, I really have only one feeling….that person can go to hell, as far as I’m concerned.

Well, it seems to be working. The program monitoring the temp – this afternoon it showed it at 39c. After blowing the crap out of the fan and heatsink (lots of dust flew out), it’s been pretty steady about about 30-33c. That is what, about a difference of about 10 degrees. Apparently enough to make a difference.

I really like this picture, even though it’s actually upside down. Not sure why I like it…but I do.
(Oh, and I think from now on, I’m going to be doing the pics just a little bit bigger. I’ve been doing 500×333, but I think I can go 600 with no issues on how the site looks.)

toshiba sure doesn’t make it easy…
So my laptop has overheated lately. I google it, and it turns out it’s pretty common with Toshiba laptops. But the only solution (other than sending it in) seems to be just opening it up and getting the dust out of the heatsink. Not really a solution, in my opinion, but why should I have to send it out (for probably a week or two) just to be dusted off? But try taking this thing apart! Holy crap it’s ridiculous. I removed 21 screws! TWENTY-ONE! And STILL couldn’t get it apart. So I decided to try something a little less high tech. Canned air on one side of the heatsink, high power vaccuum on the other. Amazing how much dust is in there – and I’m sure I didn’t get even close to half of it. We’ll see what happens.

Las Vegas pictures are online. Only one day of daytime pics, but I shot a LOT.
There’s an off chance I may be back out there in a few weeks. Other than that, the only upcoming travel I can think of is Los Angeles in a couple months. That’s for another trade show. But what they told us at NAB…oh….damn, I should not get my hopes up…but they are going to have a show next year in London!! ::::fingers crossed::::
