what the…
So I get ready to go to work today, and my truck won’t start! What the?!?! No click, nothing. I call Nissan (good to see that warranty being worked) and they come out about 45 minutes later. Hook up a jump, and it starts right up. So now I’m wondering, why did my battery die? It’s only about 1.5 years old, and it’s an Optima – these things do NOT die easily. It wasn’t that cold out. I didn’t have anything running (no lights or anything). I’m hoping it’s an anomoly, because I’d be really ticked if this battery was dead already. If it’s the alternator, well…that would fall under my warranty (it’s already been replaced once, without asking – but with a rebuilt one).
Still…what the?!?!

We got about an inch of snow yesterday…then the dreaded freezing rain started. It wasn’t anything bad – just a pain to get off the windshield. Last night added about 2 or 3 inches of snow. It’s still snowing now, but not heavily. I need to go get some stuff, but I really don’t want to go outside.

Good lord! I went ahead and bought a new wireless router today. Got the Netgear Super-G model. It says it has 4x the range as my old Linksys. Does it ever! And the speed….ooooohhh the speed! I was lucky to get 200 Kbps in my room on the old one. Now I’m sitting at about 3500 Kbps. Nice. So the old Linksys is probably going to hit the circular filing cabinet.

So yesterday I completely restored (as in reinstall, not system restore) my laptop. Fair enough. But then I realized there was a file I hadn’t backed up. My Family Tree Maker file! OUCH! I knew I could probably get it back (though not complete) from my dad or sister. I very nearly always have it backed up. But for some reason, I didn’t have it on my second partition. Everything gone! So anyway…today I’m finishing up installing stuff (printer software, scanner software, etc) and I find a blank disc among my stuff. Throw it in and…SCORE! And ironically, that’s ALL that was on the disc. Suffice it to say, that was quite a relief.
On another note – my wireless router is going bonkers. It says I’m not connected, but I am. Weird. I think the wireless portion of the router is dying. I upgraded the firmware and that did nothing. So tomorrow I may end up buying a new one – at least I’ll be able to upgrade the speed. Right now I have a 11MB one. I should probably get a Super G (108MB) to replace it, as my laptop has built in Super G. I’d love to have the new Pre-N, but to maximize it, I’d have to get a new PC card. Kinda stupid, considering the built in wireless. Though the range would kick ass.
