comcast and other stuff…

I am SO tired of Comcast and their internet service. It’s HORRIBLE here. I am constantly having issues connecting. We’ve complained, and it hasn’t improved. There are some times when it’s slower than dialup. We have a Panera coming to the area soon…well, I hope soon; the building is being built right now. Panera has free wireless service. At this point, I think it’d be easier just to drive down to their restaurant, order some bread, and surf from there. That’s how bad Comcast is.

There’s a Kenny Chesney concert tonight at Nissan Pavilion. Traffic was HORRIBLE when I went to try and get food. It’s a good thing I avoid that area driving home from work. Blech.

I finally got time (but more importantly, space on my computer at work) to convert a couple VHS tapes to DVD. But what a pain…trying to make a DVD sleeve using the VHS. Scanned them, no problem. But they are old enough that they are all scratched up. So I’m zooming in and basically cleaning it up pixel by pixel. OK, not quite that far in, but just to give an idea – my brush is set at 5 pixels. That’s pretty far in. I can’t find the pictures online to use decent ones, so they may end up just looking like poo.

Oh yeah…happy Friday the 13th.

update on the truck…

Well, got lucky, sort of. Turns out all that was wrong was a hose had come loose. So it cost me $100. If it had been mechanical and something needed to be replaced, it would have only cost me $50. Go figure. Ah, the joys of a warranty you don’t get to use too often.

time for a trip to the dealer…

Have to take my truck in tomorrow morning. My idle is ALL over the place…and sometimes when I’m driving and hit the clutch to downshift…the truck completely dies. Not good. Hopefully this will all be covered under warranty.

democratic convention recap…

So I wasn’t able to get online and post during the convention…just had no time. So here’s a quick recap.

Saturday and Sunday – mostly setup. (Sunday was pretty much a waste of time – waiting for audio and video feeds that never showed up).

Monday – show begins. Speakers were the “old guard” – Jimmy Carter, Al Gore, Bill Clinton and the like. I was kind of surprised at Carter’s speech. He’s normally pretty tame (or at least as I remember him).

Tuesday – this was one of the big nights, in my opinion. And the networks didn’t even cover it! I admit, I didn’t pay attention to Baraak Obama’s speech, but I heard his was one of the best of the week. I was more interested in Ron Reagan’s speech on stem cell research. He came out and said it wouldn’t be a political speech. But he sure as heck got his political dig in at the end. If it weren’t obvious before, this guy is a liberal, and has no respect for Bush. Good for him! I fully support Reagan’s call for federal funding for embryonic stem cell research. He left pretty quick.

Wednesday – this was the day for Edwards. And the godawful nomination role call. That takes WAY too long.

Thursday – Kerry’s night. Not too much to say about it.

I forget which night it was, but Dennis Kucinich had quite the speech. The guy has a few ideas that should never happen – like immediately pulling out of Iraq. But that guy is definitely a man of conviction. He’s the far left of the Democrats, and if I were Kerry, I would ask Kucinich to help get the Nader voters.

Friday – drove home. LONG drive. Traffic was backed up in New Jersey, Delaware, Baltimore, the Beltway, and worst of all…the toll road. Another accident. I think it took me about 45 minutes to go 5 miles.
