entertainment on the metro…
I spent the entire day (18 hours) down in Crystal City on a job. Dead tired. But my trip home was pretty amusing. I hopped a taxi to the metro station at National Airport. Blue line. Took that to Rosslyn to transfer to the Orange line. The Orange line train was PACKED. And this was at about 11:00pm on a Tuesday. Not really sure why…something must have been going on in DC.
So we are all sardines, and I’ve got a tripod and camera. I notice this guy standing there with his iPod. He’s got a cowboy hat, tight jeans (Wranglers! Ha!), and a pony tail. He’s really getting into his music, bobbing up and down. Eyes closed. Well, as the trip progressed, he was getting even more into it. He was dancing with his invisible friend for a little while. Then some guys moves in front of him. He’s still going on and then makes a move like he’s putting his hand on his invisible friend’s butt. But unbeknownst to him, he’s actually only about 5 inches from this other guy’s butt. Pretty funny. So on we go.
Then he starts REALLY getting into it. And by this time, pretty much everyone on the train has noticed and are grinning or talking about him. And this cowboy is totally clueless. Eyes closed the whole time! I know most of the people in that train were probably dying to know what he was listening to. As we got off at the Vienna metro, I overheard one crowd. I hear some guy say to his friends, “So what do you think? Ecstasy?”
Ah…entertainment on the metro.

Went and saw it last night. The theater was almost full. I don’t always buy what Michael Moore has to say – he does like to leave out little key bits that may make something totally innocuous. But he definitely has some interesting little observations.
There are some really funny bits in the movie (regardless of your political bent). And there are some really moving bits.
Believe it or not, this is the first movie I’ve EVER been to where the audience applauded at the end. Definitely skewed to the left in the theater. I was wondering if any right-wingers would be there and be loud and obnoxious.
So that leaves pretty much just one more movie this summer that I want to see – Spiderman 2. But I’ll wait until it’s out for a week before I watch it. I really don’t like being in packed theaters where there is a person on both sides of me.
Oh…and movies coming up that I have to make a comment about – I saw the trailer for Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events…looks interesting. Jim Carrey is the lead. And The Polar Express… I have absolutely NO interest in seeing that one. Looks stupid, imo. Then again, when I first saw the trailer for Chicken Run, I thought it looked like it would be stupid.
